Job Overview
Reporting to the Group CEO, the overall purpose of this position is to lead, manage and implement strategies aimed at growing and building NTV and QTV to be the market leaders in television information and entertainment while ensuring the stations are generating optimum revenues.
Background and Scope of position
The jobholder works with a team of unit leaders to ensure that all television brands and teams get the necessary support and provides the Nation Media Group with up to date market intelligence and research information to facilitate sound business decision making so as to meet business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading
the television division and developing strategies to position NMG as
a leading broadcasting entity;
- Ensuring
optimum performance in commercial, programming, in-house productions
and news content generation;
- Promoting
innovation in programming, content look and feel of the station and
exploring newer dimensions in order to attract clients and
viewership;
- Building
constructive relationships and continuous management of
stake-holder relations;
- Ensuring
that the work culture and working environment in television division
is conducive to optimise employee productivity;
- Identification
of business enhancement projects and initiatives to grow
the revenue streams;
- Using
and capitalising on research and market trends analysis for business
improvement;
- Reviewing
and approving content supplier contracts while ensuring cost
effectiveness of budgets and spends.
- Managing
and retaining creative talents while ensuring the stations are
competitive
The jobholder has a freehand in organising work plans, utilisation of resources under general guidelines and leading staff to meet the departmental objectives of the Group, only occasionally refers to the Group CEO.
Job Complexity
The jobholder is wholly accountable to the Group CEO for the decisions taken.

What we require from the successful profile:
To be successful in securing this role it is essential that you will have acquired:
Education:
- Master’s
degree in business management with focus in Strategy, Business
Research and Development;
- At
least ten (10) years experience in Business Development, preferably
in media/broadcasting
- Strong
Leadership (Coaching, Developing, Influencing, Team building,
Stress management, Motivating & Inspiring others,
- Demonstrable
record of passion and energy for results with a strong
commercial acumen; Business strategic skills
- Strong
presentation, analytical and interpersonal skills
