Job description
The Financial Accountant is responsible for the overall general ledger accounting for the entities in Tanzania, Uganda and Mozambique within the TransUnion Africa group. This person will also ensure that the accounting data is captured correctly and in conformity with the accounting policies for the group.

Responsibilities include:

- Ensuring proper maintenance of general ledger accounts for Uganda, Tanzania and Mozambique.
- Ensuring proper accounting procedures are adhered to and that all accounting information is captured comprehensively and accurately and in good time for the above mentioned entities. Liaising with Country Accountants to ensure data capture is performed smoothly, correctly and timeously.
- Performing bank reconciliations for the indicated entities and ensure they remain updated each month.
- Check all the bank reconciliations in the file and ensure no items remain reconciling more than two months.
- Maintaining a fixed asset schedule to account for purchases, disposal and depreciation of fixed assets in Kenya. To ensure that depreciation is been posted correctly and consistently.
- To ensure that all inter-company transactions are captured on a continuous basis and that the monthly balances are mutually reconciled.
- To ensure that all petty cash floats maintained by the operating entities are well maintained.
- Ensure that month-end petty cash counts are done and that the petty cash balances agree with GL balances. Ensure petty cash is run on proper reimbursement basis.
- To follow up on the payment of management fees of the group subsidiaries in line with the management fees contracts.
- Preparing Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss and Cash flow statements at year end for audit purposes.
- Continuously reviewing the receivables for the companies and ensuring they are accurately maintained.
- Maintain and determine the specific accounts that need approval for bad debts provisioning.
- To maintain the accounts payable ledgers across the group and ensure that these are accurately maintained.
- Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and confirm the accuracy of the balances contained therein.
- Ensuring that all statutory deductions are made and payments done in good time as per the local legislation.
- Tracking the tax and statutory deductions payments within the TransUnion Africa group and advising management on exceptional cases.


Desired Skills and Experience
We're looking for individuals with:
- Good understanding of corporate finance procedures
- Analytical skills
- Bachelors degree in Business/Commerce
- CPA III or equivalent (ACCA)
- 4 years relevant working experience
