Description
To perform specific functions as
mentioned in the key responsibilities and assist manager Trade Kenya
to manage the day to day processing/delivery of Trade services in
respect of all trade products for Kenya in order to ensure provision
of high quality value adding services to customers Operational
efficiency compliance and adherence to controls.
To process
in the system (currently IMEX) all of the Trade products, as may be
authorized by the Head of Trade Services in the system user
application form.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1.
To check trade transactions, to ensure they meet the Bank's laid down
procedure and policies and to ensure neither the bank nor customer is
placed at risk.
2. To check letters of credit and shipping
documents to ensure the documents comply with the terms of credit and
to highlight any discrepancies which may lead to loss to the bank and
customer of an amount equivalent to the amount of the documents if we
negotiate documents and same are rejected by the issuing bank if
found to be discrepant.
3. To ensure that all transactions
are finalized in a timely manner and within the agreed service
standards defined by the Bank for a particular customer and
product.
4. To assist the manager to interface with the
customer to assist them complete forms and make any necessary
clarifications.
5. To keep safely customer documents and
also keep accurate and complete records/files for all transactions as
per policy and country law.
6. To ensure proper handling of
incoming transaction correspondence and redirecting transactions to
GSSC for processing.
7. To provide efficient customer
service at the Trade counter and respond promptly and with a helpful
attitude to enquiries or requests for advice relative to new or
outstanding transactions.
8. To participate in Kenya BCP/DRP
Testing to ensure that functionality at all times.
9. To
participate in Out-serve, Trade Campaign and other Service
Initiatives.
10. Providing advice to customers on trade
services and ensure Trade documents are released to authorised agents
of our clients in a timely manner.
11. To ensure that AML
guidelines and policies are adhered to and that the suspicious
transactions are detected and reported.
12. To support Head
of Trade Services in ensuring management controls are embedded
through day to day processing, timely and accurate reporting , SLA
adherence and proactive management of risk.
Qualifications
& Skills
* O level with at least C+ overall
grade, C+ English and C+ Mathematics or equivalent. A University
Degree or equivalent is however desirable
* Accreditation in
Certified Documentary Credit Specialist ( CDCS ) and/ or Trade Skills
assessment
* A good knowledge and understanding of the
provisions and definitions contained in the ICC Uniform Rules
*
Good understanding of Trade processing systems and supporting
systems
* Good understanding of Operational Risk including
Money Laundering and Know Your Customer Group requirements &
policy.
