Job description
The incumbent is responsible for the overall development, management, planning delivery and monitoring of Routine EPI program and other relevant strategies for improving immunization coverage within the Accelerated Child Survival and Development (ACSD) program of UNICEF Somalia, one of the three program thrusts of UNICEF in Somalia for 2011-15. Only 5% of Somali children are fully immunized and 19% are vaccinated against measles as per MICS 2006. The overall objective is to increase and sustain levels of immunization coverage through the combined strategies of CHDs, RED (outreach), acceleration and routine fixed site EPI activities and through linkages with other programs.The results expected by the end of 2015 is a progressive increase of measles immunization to >65% and fully immunization coverage to >50%.

Desired Skills and Experience
- Advanced
university degree in medicine or related field i.e. public health.
- Knowledge
of latest development and technology in the health and specifically
immunization field.
- Proven
ability to conceptualize, plan and manage programs as well as
transfer of skills to others. Drive for results.
- Leadership
skills, effective communication and negotiation including advocacy
skills.
- Analytical
ability, maturity, ability to work in a team, copes under stressful
and difficult work condition. Ability to work in an international or
multicultural environment.
- Knowledge
of common computer applications, i.e. work processing, spreadsheet
and database.
- Eight
years of relevant work experience at national and international
level in program management and planning and specifically in
immunization. Previous experience in fragile states desirable.
- Fluency
in English and another UN language. Knowledge of the local working
language of the duty station would be an asset.
