1. Human resources director
Purpose: The HR Director reports to the Vice Chancellor and CEO of
the university. He/ She will have the ultimate responsibility for all
human capital development within the University from both an
operational and strategic perspective. Other key responsibilities
include human resource planning and recruitment; talent
management; performance management and supporting line
managers and faculty/staff in Human Resources processes and
practices to achieve KCA University’s objectives in line with the
strategic plan.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Staff recruitment, selection and retention planning;
Policy development and documentation;
Coordinate performance management;
Design and oversee attractive compensation, benefits and wellness programs;
Prepare and manage the HR departmental budget;
Draft and implement the HR strategy that will support the implementation of the overall KCAU strategic plan;
Develop risk management framework for the department;
Design a career progression and succession plan;
Ensure KCAU compliance with Labour Laws and statutory requirements;
Conduct regular surveys of Kenyan labour market as relates to higher educational institutions to ensure a competitive reward package;
In collaboration with DVC Academic Affairs, initiate exchange programs with other local, regional and international universities;
Develop an appropriate talent identification and management approach;
Manage department through responsive human resources processes and service
Providing general administrative support to the Board of Trustees and University Council in the areas of Human Resources; and
Serve on various divisions and the university forums and committees.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Academic and Professional Qualification
Master’s degree in HR or related field
Professional qualification in Human Resources Management
Experience
9 to 10 years’ experience with at least 6 years’ experience at a manager level; and
Must be an active member of the Institute of Human Resources Management
Other attributes
A person with a high level of integrity and a strong sense of personal accountability for business performance and for accomplishing the goals of the business.
Excellent analytical skills;
Well-developed report writing skills;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Conflict resolution skills;
Computer literacy and ability to manage a HRMIS.

2. University registrar
Purpose: The Registrar reports to the Senior DVC – Academic & Students’ Affairs and Enrolment Management. He/ She will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of academic activities, safe custody of academic records and is the Chief Examination Officer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Chief custodian of all students’ academic records;
Provide leadership in student data management including registration data, examination records, transcripts and certificates;
Chief examinations officer;
Custodian of faculty programs, curricula, academic policies, students’ rules and regulations;
Supervise and coordinate evaluation and certification;
Manage graduation activities for the institution;
Oversee the complete graduation process to include all elements
of the rehearsal and ceremony;
Develop academic policies and procedures;
Compile and maintain the University academic calendar;
Compile and maintain the Academic policy register;
Secretary and coordinator of academic division meetings – Deans Committee, Admissions Committee, Students’ Disciplinary Committee;
Develop and manage budgets for the department;
Ensure proper input and maintenance of students information in the ERP system;
Manage the students admission process;
Develop risk management framework for the department;
Supervise, mentor, train and develop staff in the department;
Supervise the coordination, evaluation and certification of all graduation applications;
Responsible for collecting, recording, maintaining and reporting of student records;
Provide leadership and develop appropriate recommendations for the implementation of related technology applications in support of registrations and records;
Collaborate with Deans, administrators, faculty, IT and counselors to facilitate and improve services to students
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience;
Doctorate (PhD) level qualification
10 years relevant work experience
OTHER SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
Strong leadership and managerial skills;
Exceptional planning and organization skills;
Data management and analytical skills;
Knowledge of laws and regulations related to University education;
Good team player and interpersonal skills.
