Org. Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system's designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. The Ozone Secretariat is the Secretariat for the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and for the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. This post is located in the Ozone Secretariat of the United Nations Environment Programme/Executive Office (UNEP/EO) in the Nairobi duty station (http://ozone.unep.org)
Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Executive Secretary Ozone Secretariat and direct joint supervision of the Senior Scientific Affairs Officer and the Senior Administrative Officer, the incumbent will perform the following tasks: Organizes and coordinates preparatory meetings with relevant offices and delegations; Assists in drafting procedural notes for the chairpersons of assigned committees and meetings/conferences; Ensures that all required services are available; Tracks the status of and download documents; Organizes and maintains reference material and background documents, including resolutions and decisions of main organs, in documents booth; Reports on the proceedings of committees and meetings/conferences; Produces programme of assigned committees and meetings/conferences for distribution; Supervises the voting and election process and the preparation of tabulation of voting patterns; Assists in the preparation of the preliminary list and annotation of agenda items and material; Prepares list of participants; Maintains a database of meetings based on requests and publishes the list; Prepares statistics on meetings; Assists in determining the material and human resources requirements of meetings and assists in the preparation of the cost estimates; Collaborates with the relevant Conference Service staff in allocating facilities and meeting rooms; Maintains an accurate record of speakers and an attendance record and coordinates with delegations on their position on the list of speakers; Undertakes research and provides reference materials for preparation of briefs, notes and statements; Coordinates with the documents control office for reproduction of reports; Prepares floor plan of seating arrangements; Attends planning meetings, representing the Unit regarding organizational arrangements for special committees and meetings/conferences and updates files accordingly; Prepares for committees and meetings/conferences to be held away from Headquarters, other UN Offices or Regional Commissions, coordinates with substantive offices; Drafts correspondence and notes; Maintains and updates filing and reference system; Responds to queries from delegations and Secretariat; Participates in the recruitment of temporary assistants, schedules and supervises their work; Provides guidance to junior staff; Performs other duties as required

Education
Completion of secondary education is required. Additional training in administration, logistics or other relevant field desirable
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of experience in conference support, travel arrangement or related fields is required. Experience in servicing intergovernmental meetings is desirable
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Special Notice
This position is open for recruitment for an initial period of one year and may be subject to extension. Appointment against this post is on a local basis. UNEP’s Division of Early Warning and Assessment (DEWA) is responsible for analyzing the state of the global environment, providing early warning information and assessing global and regional environmental trends to catalyze and promote international cooperation and action on the environment. This post is located in UNEP/DEWA at the Nairobi duty station
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer and the overall guidance of the Chief, Early Warning Branch, the incumbent will carry out the following duties:

Programmatic Development of UNEP Live:
• Contribute to investigating UNEP Live potential, challenges and opportunities in supporting environmental assessment activities as input for its further development;
• Investigate functionality of data and indicator component to provide on-line data exploration and analytical capabilities;
• Improve notification capabilities to extend beyond current Remote Sensing Systems (RSS) feeds to allow for setting up email alerts for future reports on specific topics;
• Create inter-faces to upload real-time alerts, data/observations from citizens including discovery;
• Propose and implement improvements to UNEP Live by tracking its utility and establishing feedback mechanism;
• Develop data repository for UNEP base maps;
• Facilitate regular maintenance of system platform and institute back-up mechanism;
• Link specified data/information services of UN partners and national data published by official sources to establish gateways to credible environmental data/information sources;
• Respond to official correspondence, requests relating to processing, analysing or dissemination of UNEP Live data and information.
UNEP Live data and information customisation:
• Assist in identification, collection and integration of data and indicators, maps, satellite images and reports for comprehensive database of priority environmental indicators and other knowledge products supporting assessment activities;
• Maintain GIS databases by processing metadata entries and upload into repository;
• Identify and evaluate capabilities of metadata holdings by National Partners, providing relevant access;
• Test and validate UNEP Live technical solutions including query results, user inter-faces, navigation paths, among others, against user needs, providing relevant recommendations;
Development of Spatial Data:
• Perform geo-referencing of data and assign appropriate geographic projections for interoperability;
• Undertake digitizing of geo-referenced imagery using appropriate GIS and remote sensing software;
• Rectify data, build topology, and assign attribute codes to themes;
• Undertake integration of geospatial and non-spatial data;
• Perform preliminary analysis and interpretation of data and satellite imagery; compile map layouts using appropriate software; perform field verification of remotely sensed data.
UNEP Life Awareness and outreach:
• Prepare technical system documentation and user guidelines, up-to-date technical improvements and functionalities;
• Participate in UNEP Live discussions, seminars, workshops and conferences and assist in identification and elaboration of user needs; attend inter-agency meetings where new technology solutions to dynamic environmental assessments and reporting are addressed;
• Provide training on country-level development of State of the Environment (SOE) Live and My Country components of UNEP Live;
• Promote UNEP Live partnerships with national and international organisations and private sector for environmental assessment, monitoring and reporting;
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in information systems analysis and programming, systems administration and maintenance, software development, technical writing or related area. Familiarity with GIS techniques, web mapping solutions and familiarity with ESRI software for Geographic Information Systems is desirable.
Languages

T24 TECHNICAL ANALYST & APPLICATION DEVELOPER (2 Positions)
He/She shall be charged with the responsibility of developing applications in or to interact with the Bank’s T24 Temenos applications.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Use of jbase/java to develop or to interface with T24 applications.
Recommend improvements to existing T24 technical and business processes in order to meet the Bank’s requirements.
Translate the business needs and Requirement Specifications into Design Specifications.
Develop program/code from Design Specifications to good quality Software and in conformance to system development standards.
Work closely with IT Security to ensure that applications are well secured.
Work closely with third party vendors to assess vendor proposals and recommendations
Specifying and ensuring application controls are incorporated during design of the software in order to check on risk exposure.
Documenting system developments in accordance to the application development policy.
Create test plans, test cases, test scripts and perform technical unit testing.
Work with existing systems to track and manage Change requests and user issues.
Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents, design and execute test plans.

He/She shall be responsible for configuring, automating, and managing all the T24 environments including DEV, UAT and Production with Day-to-day Administrative functions of T24 and interfaces including their availability and functionality.

Configuring, administering, and managing all T24 Core Banking environments – DEV, UAT, TEST and Production – and instances.
T24 Core Banking performance tuning and Application Process Optimization
Administering and managing the integration of T24 Core Banking Application with external middleware components – IBM WebSphere MQ, IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), and Radware Load Balancers
COB (Close of Business issues) administration and troubleshooting including Year End, Month End, Daily COB Support and optimization.
Temenos T24 TCServer component installation, configuration and trouble shooting.
Internet Banking and Other Satellite Interfaces integration with TCserver communicating via TCP / Socket Base / JBase Agents / MQ.
Monitoring of All the T24 Critical Services including TSM Services.
Managing scheduled and Ad hoc T24 backups and keeping track of backups as per the retention policy.
Administering T24 Oracle Connectivity.

He/She shall be charged with the responsibility of providing technical analysis, installation, maintenance, and administration of the Bank’s UNIX based enterprise servers and storage systems.

Administering, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX (IBM AIX) based servers to support 24/7 data availability of key systems
Troubleshooting, problem resolution and escalation of systems issues
Perform necessary upgrades and system patching and end of day procedures

DATA CENTER MAINTENANCE ENGINEER (1 Position)
The role of the Data Center Engineer shall be to ensure continuous operation of critical enterprise systems by supporting, managing and maintaining physical data center infrastructure systems. This includes data center growth and capacity planning, business continuity & disaster recovery analysis and planning, infrastructure component maintenance and life-cycle replacement, and planned and unplanned events management.
In addition, the data center engineer shall have the following roles and responsibilities:
Perform all engineering operations and mechanical/electrical installations and maintenance in the data centers under the guidance of the Bank’s maintenance department,
Undertake planned preventative maintenance and emergency repairs of the Electrical and Mechanical systems as may be required,
Conduct visuals, walk-around inspection and report;
o General condition of panel boards
o General condition of Air condition equipment
o General condition of firefighting equipment
The candidate will ideally be a Multi-skilled operative or have at least a specific trade from within the following requirements: Air Conditioning, Electrical
Services, i.e power and distribution, Firefighting equipment and Environmental Controls.
Specifically; this role requires the jobholder to develop, manage and enforce datacenter enterprise standards including equipment racking, cabling, and labeling and best practice change management.
The ideal candidate shall have competencies in Mechanical & Electrical systems, with Health & Safety awareness.

Job Specifications (qualifications and experience)
Engineering Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent with at least three years working experience,
Technically qualified M&E Maintenance Engineer,
Working knowledge of Datacenter facilities and power systems such as UPS, Generators and Switched Power Systems and Fire Suppression Systems. Knowledge of Security Badge Access and Video Surveillance Systems is an added advantage.
Qualified to City & Guilds (C&G) Level 2 or 3 or equivalent in relevant disciplines
Electrical C&G 236 / A+B and 17th Edition or C&G 2391 test and inspection
Refrigerant Handling and firefighting qualification.
Experience of maintenance, testing & fault finding on a variety of equipment including, ventilation, generators, switchgear, cables, calculating power usage, etc.
