Philips Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) Consumer Lifestyle, 2014-2015
The Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) is a talent infusion program to accelerate the buildup of commercial capabilities and competences in our middle management layer in growth market geographies.
The CLP is specially designed for experienced professionals in front and back office . Aim of this program is to build commercial leadership for emerging markets in an accelerated way. Building on earlier acquired leadership and functional skills, this program will support integration in our businesses, Healthcare, Lighting, Consumer Lifestyle or Corporate functions. The program provides a substantial exposure to high level management of diverse businesses and geographies.
The role is focused on helping you bolster your knowledge of front and back office functions with on-the-job training across varied businesses. The job encompasses one local and one international assignment. These assignments have a high change management character, requiring a broad perspective on the total value chain and a broad view on business aspects.



Job profile in brief: Commercial Leadership Program: Consumer Lifestyle, Tanzania or Ethiopia
Key Areas of Accountability:
  • Project ownership, milestone planning, engagement with key stakeholders within and outside the industry and with customers
  • Analysis of the local market, competition, technology and developments, in order to find new business opportunities with new product-market combinations within the business strategy
  • Conduct market research to determine market requirements for existing and future products
  • Development of Go-to-Market models to penetrate or enter market segments, from direct to indirect channels, from high end to value product offerings to solutions
  • Creation of alternative business models (cases) to accelerate our business (eg new financial models, new solutions )
  • Prepare and plan, together with the sales channels, the market introduction of new products, including promotion material and product information, in order to generate the largest impact in the market
  • Implementation of your plans and establishment of pilots to test viability of approach and future scalability for business success
Competencies Required
  • You have 5 to 10 years of work experience
  • You have a university degree added with a MBA qualification or equivalent, including an excellent academic achievement
  • The areas of preference is Marketing, Business Management or Business Development
  • Your background is of one of the growth markets, added with an international outlook
  • You have a desire to work locally, and in parallel you are internationally mobile. You can easily adapt to different intercultural environments

Academic qualifications/Experience
First or Second Class Upper Bachelors Degree in Business or related field from a recognized university
An A or B in O’level plus a B or above in both English & Mathematics
A minimum of 2 - 3 years relevant experience in Public & Financial Services Sector
An MBA would be an added advantage
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (other language is a plus)
Proficient IT skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)

To do this, GVEP provides high-quality financial, technology, engineering and project management services. With over 4-million beneficiaries, GVEP operates in fast growing segment of the development industry i.e. clean energy, private sector-led initiatives, and rural economic development among others and has experienced high growth in the last two years. Another exciting change is also happening and the organization is now moving to a matrix structure. Job Profile – Responsibilities
The programme Director, a high calibre position as well, will be responsible for providing strategic leadership on Project Management across Africa and lead implementation of best practice, ensuring progressive learning from all projects including M&E. He/she will Coordinate the development of an annual projects budget and manage costs to agreed budgets; effectively building, equipping and developing the project managers to meet future needs of the business. Overseeing all project activities and ensuring positive outcomes are achieved for clients and funders will be another core function of this role as well as ensuring effectiveness and timelines of internal and donor reporting.



Personal Profile – Qualifications
The right candidate for this position will have extensive experience in project management with a track record in delivery and introducing new project management disciplines and capabilities into organizations. Prior exposure to matrix management is desirable. This person should be a strategic problem solver, pragmatic and results oriented. He/she should also have experience managing multiple projects and using tools such as MS Project for planning. The person desiring to take up this post should be qualified in energy, business management, MBA or equivalent, ambitious and a go getter.
