We are a leading Health Care Provider that aims to provide compassionate care to the sick, suffering and grieving.The Mater Hospital is interested in a seasoned Nursing professional to head a team of nursing and support staff in the Capacity of Director of Nursing Services and ensuring care is given in line with the values and ethos of the Mater Hospital.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the successful candidate key roles will be to:
- Manage
available resources and plan, implement and evaluate standards of
nursing practice and patient care at the Main Hospital and all
Satellite Clinics.
- Ensure
continuous improvement of Nursing Care through regular audits and
Continues Professional Development of the Team.
- Work
closely with the School of Nursing and Midwifery to ensure students
get the necessary skills and exposure to successfully graduate and
prepare them for the work environment.
- Oversee
delivery and accountability of Care by the team in line with
policies, procedures and standards of the Hospital Quality System.
- Ensure
the hospital complies with regulations and legislation of the
relevant governing bodies and observes current technologies and
trends of Nursing Practice.
- Graduate
of an accredited School of Nursing – MSN and/or BSN.
- Undergraduate
studies in Health Systems Management or Business Management will be
an advantage.
- BLS,
ACLS and ATLS or ICU Training.
- Record
of progressive nursing practice experience with at least 5 years in
a senior leadership position.
- Strong
planning, organizing, coordinating and decision making skills.
- Must
have good listening and inter-personal skills, good proposal and
report writing skills and a person of high integrity.

Minimum Requirements
• Degree / Diploma in Human Resource Management or related field.
• Computer literate preferably with knowledge on HRM system
• Must be a registered member with IHRM
• At list 1 year experience working in busy HR Management set up
• Ability to handle grievances and welfare issues for a large number of staff
• Ability to work for long hours from time to time
• Good analytical skills
• Honest and integrity
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work with minimum supervision

Job Specification
• Monitoring absenteeism and advising HODs for action to be taken
• Daily monitoring of the time and attendance biometric clocking to ensure employees clock in/out on daily basis and advise HODs on those not complying for further action
• Preparation of accurate weekly overtime reports
• Processing of employment contracts and cards
• Induction training for newly employed staff
• Processing/ filling of leave forms and maintain accurate up-to-date leave days balance summary report
• Ensure all sick leave approved is accurately updated in the HRM system
• Ensure the statutory records ( NHIF, NSSF and PIN) are accurately updated in the HRM system and copies kept in the personnel files
• Update of the personnel files (Employment contracts, Job descriptions, Personnel details, induction certificates/ copies of other testimonials, National ID cards, pass port size photo, and confirmation letters)
• Monitor Term Contracts and advise HODS of the last working day early for planning purpose
• Assist and coordinate training activities
• Preparation of accurate attendance summaries for salary processing
• Any other duties that may be delegated to you from time to time
