This position is located in the Internal Audit Division (IAD), Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) in Nairobi, Kenya. Incumbents at this level work individually, as team members, or as team leaders. They are responsible for all phases (planning, field work, and reporting) of audits/reviews and for the development of staff working on those assignments. The auditor reports directly to the Chief of Service or Senior Auditor/Section Chief.

Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Auditor will be responsible for the following duties:
• Leads audits/special reviews with respect to large and complex operations. Identifies and allocates tasks, coordinates/monitors work, controls audit/assignment resources, consolidates results, etc. • Prepares risk-based audits/reviews. Plans/programmes in accordance with OIOS standards. • Supervises and coaches staff throughout the audit/review with the view to ensuring conformity with OIOS standards in all phases of the audit process. • Empowers and challenges more junior staff to actively participate in the management of the audit/review. • Documents, evaluates and test systems and controls to determine their adequacy and effectiveness, ensuring (i) compliance with policies and procedures, (ii) accomplishment of management's objectives, (iii) reliability and integrity of information, (iv) economical use of resources, and (v) safeguarding of assets. • Prepares working papers for review by Senior Auditor/Section Chief or the Chief of Service. • Develops and discusses findings, agrees on recommendations and timelines for corrective action with responsible officer of operations audited, and monitors the implementation status of agreed recommendations. • Drafts audit/assignment reports for Organization-wide consumption, including senior management and the General Assembly. • Prepares presentations, using available technology tools (e.g., PowerPoint). • Makes presentations of audit results to senior management of IAD and senior management of the operation audited. • Monitors the status of audit recommendations. • Appraises adequacy of follow-up action taken on audit findings and recommendations. • Maintains and updates audit programs. • Identifies training needs, develops training programs and materials, and conducts workshops with respect to auditing approaches and techniques. • Evaluates staff performance; performs management review of work performed by assistant auditors, prior to Senior Auditor/Section Chief's review. • Performs other related duties as determined by the Senior Auditor/Section Chief or Chief of Service.

Education 

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, finance, accounting or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or equivalent is desirable. 

Work Experience


A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in audit, finance, accounting, administration, statistics, computer science or related area. Audit experience is required.


Languages


English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post,
fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.



Assessment Method


Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Job Description 
To perform specific functions as mentioned in the key responsibilities and assist manager Trade Kenya to manage the day to day processing/delivery of Trade services in respect of all trade products for Kenya in order to ensure provision of high quality value adding services to customers Operational efficiency compliance and adherence to controls.
To process in the system (currently IMEX) all of the Trade products, as may be authorized by the Head of Trade Services in the system user application form.
Key Roles & Responsibilities 
1. To check trade transactions, to ensure they meet the Bank's laid down procedure and policies and to ensure neither the bank nor customer is placed at risk.
2. To check letters of credit and shipping documents to ensure the documents comply with the terms of credit and to highlight any discrepancies which may lead to loss to the bank and customer of an amount equivalent to the amount of the documents if we negotiate documents and same are rejected by the issuing bank if found to be discrepant.
3. To ensure that all transactions are finalized in a timely manner and within the agreed service standards defined by the Bank for a particular customer and product.
4. To assist the manager to interface with the customer to assist them complete forms and make any necessary clarifications.
5. To keep safely customer documents and also keep accurate and complete records/files for all transactions as per policy and country law.
6. To ensure proper handling of incoming transaction correspondence and redirecting transactions to GSSC for processing.
7. To provide efficient customer service at the Trade counter and respond promptly and with a helpful attitude to enquiries or requests for advice relative to new or outstanding transactions.
8. To participate in Kenya BCP/DRP Testing to ensure that functionality at all times.
9. To participate in Out-serve, Trade Campaign and other Service Initiatives.
10. Providing advice to customers on trade services and ensure Trade documents are released to authorised agents of our clients in a timely manner.
11. To ensure that AML guidelines and policies are adhered to and that the suspicious transactions are detected and reported.
12. To support Head of Trade Services in ensuring management controls are embedded through day to day processing, timely and accurate reporting , SLA adherence and proactive management of risk.
Qualifications & Skills 
* O level with at least C+ overall grade, C+ English and C+ Mathematics or equivalent. A University Degree or equivalent is however desirable
* Accreditation in Certified Documentary Credit Specialist ( CDCS ) and/ or Trade Skills assessment
* A good knowledge and understanding of the provisions and definitions contained in the ICC Uniform Rules
* Good understanding of Trade processing systems and supporting systems
* Good understanding of Operational Risk including Money Laundering and Know Your Customer Group requirements & policy.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations systems designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UNEP's Division of Environmental Policy Implementation (DEPI) works with international and national partners, providing technical assistance and advisory services for the implementation of environmental policy, and strengthening the environmental management capacity of developing countries and countries with economies in transition. This post is located in the Nairobi Duty Station.



Responsibilities

The incumbents will be under the direct supervision of the Chief, Post-Conflict and Disasters Management Branch (PCDMB) and overall supervision of the Regional Director or Division Director, respectively. Within delegated authority, the incumbents will be responsible for the following duties:
Serves as a senior policy officer, advising UNEP, and particularly the UNEP Coordinator for the Disasters and Conflicts Sub-programme, on overall policy direction in the region on specific issues; and, more generally, reviewing and providing advice on a diverse range of policy issues in the region related to humanitarian affairs as they relate to the environment; Coordinates the regional input into UNEP's programming related to the environmental dimension of crisis risk reduction and post-crisis initiatives; Serves as the primary UNEP focal point in the region on the environmental dimension of crisis risk reduction and post-crisis initiatives and related policy issues, drawing on knowledge of the impact of humanitarian activities on the environment; keeps abreast of latest developments;
liaises with other humanitarian organizations an donors;  Monitors, analyzes and reports on humanitarian developments, disaster relief/management programmes or emergency situations in assigned country/area, identifying where best an environmental dimension is warranted; Facilitates a coordinated approach in the region to the environmental dimension within international humanitarian/emergency assistance of complex emergency/disaster situations and in large, complex projects; ensures necessary support (such as staff, funding, specialized equipment or supplies, among others); prepares situation reports to the international community, apprising of situation to date and specifying unmet requirements of stricken countries; Assists in the integration of an environmental dimension to the production of appeals within the UN system for international assistance; ensures the proper use and spending of donor contributions channeled through OCHA in relation to the environmental dimension of such assistance; Coordinates in collaboration with the relevant UNEP division(s), UNEP's work in the region to assist Member States in capacity-building, technical cooperation and technical assistance for handling the environmental dimension of emergency situations and disaster response preparedness; develops region and country-specific recommendations based on the analysis of pertinent information; Ensures appropriate monitoring and reporting on UNEP's work in the region related to the environmental dimension of crisis risk reduction and post-crisis; Organizes and prepares strategies on the environmental aspects of humanitarian, emergency relief and related issues for the region; organizes follow-up work in the region, including inter-agency technical review meetings to support policy development work and decision-making on important issues; and ensures the implementation of recommendations emanating from relevant reports; Establishes and maintains contacts with government officials, other UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, diplomatic missions or media, among others; ensures appropriate mechanisms to facilitate collaboration and exchange of information both in and outside the UN system, including on early warning and contingency planning, as it relates to the interface of the; environment and humanitarian activities; Organizes and participates in relevant work groups, meetings, conferences, consultations with other agencies and partners humanitarian and emergency relief-related matters; Performs other duties as required.
