Job Advertisement (6 months contract)
The Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI) is seeking to hire a Programmes Assistant and ICT Officer, who will provide administrative, program and logistical support based on established ICT standards and procedures as a member of the ICT team.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with administrative and program requests from multiple stakeholders/offices and perform other related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Administration
  • Attend meetings including ICT meetings and document discussions and any resulting action items.
  • Review and share schedules of external events with ICT team members.
2. Communications
  • Contribute to design and generate content for newsletters and promotional materials.
  • Provide regular writing and blogging with review and editing by assigned ICT team member.
  • Provide routine, planned social media posting with supervision.
3. Programmes
  • Provide programme support as assigned.
  • Provide input in proposal development.
  • Assist with proposal and budget drafting.
  • Draft concept notes with outlines from senior staff.
  • Write reports as may be assigned.
4. Knowledge Management
  • Write and update ICT institute profiles.
  • Transfer ideas from proposals and programs to library.
  • Desk research to document case studies and best practices from programs.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1.      Ability to;
a.       Update web content using a Content Management System (CMS) such as Drupal or Wordpress.
b.      Update, manage and search team contacts.
c.       Follow quality assurance principles of internal software development projects.
d.      Assist with Installation and configuration of web, smartphone or computer software.
e.       Assist Project Manager in software development project management.
f.        Troubleshoot problems, apply analytical skills, and recommend viable solutions.
g.       Seek and take guidance from senior staff.
2.       Ability to initiate, specify and plan activities for goal accomplishment and notify supervisor of variances.
3.      Use judgement and decision making to execute duties and responsibilities.
4.      Perform detailed work with a high level of accuracy in a multicultural environment with multiple stakeholders.
5.      Team work and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff.
6.      Verbal and written communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions.
7.      Experience with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.) strongly desired.
8.      Multitask and work within a matrix and changing business environment.
9.      Online communication skills and judgement in blogging, social media and community engagement.
10.  Experience with databases, CMSs and/or CRMs, mapping, visualization or open data technologies.
11.  Experience with mobile technologies.
12.  Experience with programming languages or systems administration a plus.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1.      Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer technology, information technology, and/or telecommunications and information engineering.
2.      Work experience in educational institutions preferably higher learning institutions.
3.      Be less than 30 years of age.

Location: Africa (we are flexible about location - this role can be based in our Addis Ababa, Nairobi or Dar es Salaam offices)
Farm Africa’s mission is to reduce poverty permanently by unleashing African farmers’ ability to grow their income and manage their natural resources sustainably. To enable us deliver our mission effectively, we need to ensure that that our programme management and implementation are exemplary. As such, we are looking for an experienced, confident and effective programme implementer to join and lead our programme delivery team as Head of Delivery.
This is a newly-created role, based in Africa. The Head of Delivery will, through effective leadership, oversee the implementation and delivery of Farm Africa’s entire programmatic portfolio.
Working closely with the Director of Programmes, our Country Directors and other key programme staff, this will be a ‘hands on’ role with extensive travel across our programme of work to provide significant and effective support to the staff delivering our programme.
