Job
description
- Ensure
financial control, compliance and transparency according to ISS’
corporate policies and statutory requirements across the regional
locations.
- Support
group wide / regional initiatives and drive changes through.
- Support
for local finance teams during reporting cycles (month end, year
end, budgeting, forecasting, strategy planning), performing first
level of financial and non-financial information review;
- Responsible
for achieving the control (and any other) objectives set for the
specific region;
- Ensure
and monitor compliance with the Accounting Policies Manual;
- Monitors
control environment and compliance with the corporate policies and
takes corrective actions;
- Detailed
monitoring of cash flows, own working capital, principals funds
management, DA turnaround, compliance with the Group’s credit
policy;
- Detailed
monitoring of control/safeguards over assets, including bank
accounts and cash centralisation, bank mandates control, bank fees,
etc.
- Specific
focus on high growth / risky areas/business units, including regular
site visits;
- Supporting
the VP Finance in ensuring any migration of finance functions to
shared services is done in a controlled way and with a minimum
business disruption;
- Support
during the migration to new general ledger and/or operational
systems;
- Roll
out and monitor usage of standardised reports, working closely with
the local finance teams and Head of Reporting & Management
Information;
- Training
/ coaching local finance managers.
- Compliance
with the Group’s policies
- Financial
risk exposure
- Ad
hoc support for Head of Financial & Management Reporting.
Desired
Skills and Experience
- Experience
as operational accountant/controller or financial auditor
- Some
exposure to financial risk management and enforcing control
environment
- Knowledge
of ISS’ business / industry
- Experience
in working in a multi-national, multi-cultural organisation
- Excellent
communication skills and a good command of the English language
(oral and written)
- Knowledge
of IFRS
- Open
to change and new ideas
- Willingness
to travel on a regular basis
- University
degree in finance, accountancy or economics
- Solid
knowledge base across ISS’ business streams.
- Managing
Change – Demonstrable success with managing change of structure
and processes surrounding a financial function.
- Working
knowledge of local languages

Job
profile
Reporting
to the Board, the incumbent will be responsible for the Internal
Audit function in ensuring that the management policies and
procedures are adhered to and that internal controls are effective
Key
Responsibilities
- reviewing
of internal control systems;
- verifying
operations and activities on the utilization of the Institute’s
resources;
- carrying
out audit checks to ensure validity and accuracy;
- interpreting
financial policies for sound auditing and control;
- undertaking
special audit investigations as may be required;
- preparing
audit reports and follow up on implementation of recommendations;
interpreting the regulations of the Institute pertaining to
financial control and management;
- implementing
audit tasks and analyzing outcomes and prepare report on required
changes;
- undertaking
fraud investigations to ensure that the operational plan and
procedures are implemented;
- developing
and implementing audit management systems;
- carrying
out risk assessment and develop management guidelines; and
- preparation
and implementation of annual audit plans.
Qualifications:
- Served
in the grade of Internal Auditor 1 for at least three (3) years;
- Part
III of the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya its equivalent from
a recognised Institution; OR.
- Bachelor
of Commerce Degree (Accounting Option/Finance) or its equivalent
from a recognised Institution; Plus Part II of CPA
- Masters
degree in any of the following disciplines: - Commerce, Accounting,
Finance or Business Administration will be an added advantage.
- Comply
with the requirements of Chapter six of the constitution.
Competences:
- Excellent
written and oral communication skills.
- Ability
to make timely and quality judgments and decisions
- Good
interpersonal and team building skills necessary to drive
initiatives and achieve results
Remuneration
The
salary scale attached to the post is in the Institutes’ harmonized
scale of VPI.11 plus
other allowances commensurate to this position applicable in the
Institute.
