ABOUT THIS JOB
Baker Hughes has an opportunity for a Wireline Operator to join our team in Kenya, Nairobi.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Take responsibility for job-related paperwork and other records for self and assigned crew.
  • Ensure compliance of all Country, local and Wireline regulations regarding Wireline explosives operations.
  • Participate in operational quality improvement efforts.
  • Maintain good customer relations.
  • Carry out all required maintenance of the unit and perform ad hoc duties relating to site operations as well as training of junior operators.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • A Tertiary qualification with at least 5 years relevant experience
  • Industry experience and product line training
  • Sound knowledge of oil & gas industry and product line
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Good communication skills and fully competent in all aspects of operator duties at a well site and shop. 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • A Tertiary qualification
  • 5 years relevant experience
  • Relevant oil and gas industry experience

icipe — African Insect Science for Food and Health is an intergovernmental organisation funded by governmental aid agencies, UN organisations and private foundations to carry out research and training in environmentally sound and sustainable management of arthropods for improving health and agricultural productivity in the tropics. icipe has 400 staff to support its research and capacity building programmes located at various sites in Kenya and Ethiopia.
icipe wishes to urgently recruit a suitable person to fill the position of INTERNAL AUDITOR in the Director General’s (DG) Office.  A competitive compensation package will be offered to the right candidate. Only shortlisted candidates will be acknowledged.
The position is tenable in Duduville, Nairobi, Kenya. This is a two-year contract, with opportunities for renewal pegged on individual performance and availability of funds.
Overall purpose of the job
To assess and improve icipe’s financial operations.
Specific duties:
  • Prepare annually a risk based audit plan for approval by DG.
  • Review accounting and internal controls systems, monitor their operation and recommend improvements thereto.
  • Examine financial records and documents to ensure they are properly kept and deviations reported.
  • Check financial records and documents to ensure that project operations comply with Donor requirements and the financial claims from Donors are complete and accurate.
  • Carry out operations audits, and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of operational procedures.
  • Make recommendations for improvements and review the implementation of corporate policies and plans, among other functions.
  • Issue periodic reports to the DG and Board Audit Committee summarising results of internal audit activities.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • At least a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related business field
  • Be a Certified Public Accountant with at least 5 years practical audit experience gained at a supervisory level
  • Possess excellent working knowledge of professional software applications such as MS Word, Excel and Access, and computerized systems of accounting.
Other desirable attributes:
  • Excellent report writing, analytical and communication skills.
  • Previous experience working in a not-for-profit organisation will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of auditing standards and practices, risk management, and applicable financial rules and procedures.
Reporting
This position reports to the Director General.
The selected candidate should be available to start as soon as possible.

Baker Hughes has an opportunity for an AMO Technician to join our team in Kenya, Nairobi.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Troubleshoot, test, assemble, disassemble and perform visual inspection of electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Review procedures for assembly, disassembly and test verification accuracy. Configure test stations and systems
  • Analyze and interpret data from environmental tests and troubleshoot equipment problems
  • Analytical ability to find solutions to difficult technical problems
  • Assist in the set-up of experiments and the recording of experimental data in collaboration with Engineering and Reliability groups
  • Test and evaluate the performance, and if required, repair general purpose test equipment
  • Provide supervision, mentorship and leadership of technicians in the absence of the supervisor/manager
  • Maintain equipment records and filing systems as part of quality control and assurance programs
  • Inspection and disposition of parts and equipment
  • Provide coaching for other Technicians
  • Assist in the preparation, development and enhancement of maintenance procedural documentation
  • Evaluate maintenance processes for potential improvements in quality, reliability, turnaround times and costs
  • Compliance with HS&E policies and procedures
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • Technical diploma or Associates degree in Electrical or Mechanical field
  • Competent in fluid power technology, AC/DC circuits, and electro-mechanical devices
  • 7+ years maintenance related experience in electro-mechanical function or minimum 7 years relevant industrial
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • Proficient to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly prints and parts lists and follow formal procedures and maintenance practices
  • Proficient in the use of multimeters, megohmmeters, hi-pot testers, another basic instruments
  • Expert level of analytical ability to find solutions to complex technical problems
  • Expert skills in soldering and assembling of electro-mechanical devices
  • Demonstrate systematic approach to troubleshooting
  • Excellent computer skills
