JOB PURPOSE:
Ensure that underwriting guidelines are met through accurate membership data capture, timely processing of medical cards, prompt dispatch of policy documents and endorsements.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The position reports to the UNDERWRITING SUPERVISOR - MEDICAL.
The jobholder is responsible for:
  • Compliance to underwriting guidelines.
  • Processing and issuing of endorsements & membership cards
  • Dispatch of endorsements, policy documents & cards
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Underwriting of medical application forms
  • Accurate capture and maintenance of client data
  • Prompt processing and dispatch of policy documents, new business and renewal debits.
  • Processing of endorsements within set time frames,
  • Timely issuance and dispatch of debit and credit notes
  • Preparation and issuance of medical cards within set time frames
  • Process renewal of policies in the system within set time frame
  • Attend to correspondences and client queries within set time lines
  • Capture policy terms and conditions for reference
KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent (Educational)
  • Pursuing Insurance Professional qualifications
  • A minimum of two years experience in medical insurance
  • Relevant Computer skills – MS Word, MS Excel
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
  • Timely dispatch of policy documents, policy debits and endorsements within agreed Service Level Agreements
  • Timely process and dispatch of cards within agreed Service Level Agreements
  • Timely processing of endorsements on IN&OUTPATIENT within agreed Service Level Agreements
  • Timely response to all client queries.
  • Satisfied internal and external customers

Key Responsibilities
1.Actuarial Valuations - Coordinating with relevant departments in the preparation of valuation data for all lines of business. These are:
  • Ordinary Life
  • Deposit Administration
  • General Insurance
  • Group Life and
  • Group Medical
  • Mortgage Cancellation
  • Micro insurance
  • BOP Credit Life
2. Actuarial Investigations
Carry out experience Investigations as directed on the following;
  • Expenses
  • Return on Assets
  • Withdrawal/Lapse
  • Mortality
  • Loss ratios for group life, medical and general insurance
  • IBNR ratios for group life, medical and general insurance
  • UPR Adequacy for group medical, life and general insurance
3.Products Development
  • Product pricing and setup in AXIS (the actuarial pricing & valuation system)
  • Product setup and testing of administrative functionalities in iGas (individual & group life admin. system)
4.Any other work/ special investigations that may arise from time to time.
Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
  1. Bachelors Degree in actuarial science, statistics, engineering, mathematics, physics, economics or any other highly numerate mathematical degree from a recognized university
  2. Intention or willingness to register with an international actuarial body (Institute or Faculty of Actuaries UK, Society of Actuaries US, Canadian Institute of Actuaries, Australian institute of actuaries, South African Actuarial Society etc.) purse exams and qualify as an actuary
  3. Management Systems, VBA programming would be an added advantage

This position provides legal staff support to beefing up the capacity within the Legal Department in the Company.
Key Responsibilities
  • Performing research and providing legal opinions as requested from time to time;
  • Drafting of legal documentation and letters as instructed by supervisor;
  • Reviewing contracts and other legal documentation;
  • Assisting to collate and maintain the legal documentation of the department and making sure the various schedules and safes are up to date;
  • Liaising with business contacts as well as external legal counsel on business matters;
  • Perform any other duties as may be required from time to time.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
  • Currently pursuing or has completed a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree from a recognized university
  • Prior Internship experience in a busy law firm or legal department within a mid-sized corporate will be an added advantage;
  • Excellent computer skills and demonstrated reporting abilities;
  • A team player willing to work with minimum supervision;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • High levels of energy, creativity and enthusiasm;
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task between various briefs;
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize;
  • High integrity.
