PROJECT ASSISTANT – MORTGAGE FINANCE
Job Summary
Reporting to the Project Manager, the jobholder will be required to participate as part of a team in reviewing and supporting the business in processing of construction finance applications and maintenance of relationships with clients during project implementation in line with the banks business objectives
Main Duties
The key responsibilities will among others include:
  • Conducting pre-appraisal reviews and communicating the findings to the Business Development Manager and the various business units.
  • Reviewing submitted project documentation that includes but not limited to titles, approved architectural drawings, structural drawings, Nema approvals/ licenses and advising on compliance to various statutory regulations.
  • Reviewing the profiles of the project implementation team that include the qualifications of the technical team, registration with the relevant bodies, professional indemnity covers, and value of previous works undertaken and giving advice on the capability of the appointed team in  undertaking earmarked developments.
  • Maintaining system based ticklers for renewal of relevant project documentation such as performance bonds, contractors all risk insurance cover.
  • Conducting initial technical analysis on projects that includes scrutinizing the bill of quantities and the approved plans with a view to advice on whether the proposed costings are in line with the current market cost estimates and adequacy of funding sought from the bank.
  • In liaison with the project implementation teams, designing draw down schedules tailored to project implementation
  • Reviewing submitted interim valuations and architects certificates and ensuring drawdowns are done as per progression of works.
  • Ensuring the terms and conditions of the offer letter are adhered to during project implementation cycle.
  • Monitoring the financial and operational performance of projects for early identification of potential problems as well as advising on timely remedial actions.
  • Generating various management reports on performance of the construction loan portfolio.
Job Specification
The incumbent will be required to possess the following attributes / skills:
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Building Economics (quantity surveying), construction management, Building Technology and any other relevant qualification within build environment.
  • Prior experience in a construction firm will be an added advantage
  • Good knowledge and experience in project appraisal preferably in a banking environment
  • Computer literacy is mandatory
  • Time management and personal organisation
  • PC skill in Microsoft office, excel and word packages or equivalent

Developer-business systems planning (business intelligence)
In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:
Reporting to the Senior Manager Business Systems Planning, the role holder will be in charge of Development and 3rd line support of Safaricom Management Information Systems (Data Ware-house and Business intelligence (BI)) and all reporting and analytics systems. This will include, but not limited to, Churn management tools, Fraud management and Revenue assurance systems, Data Mining Systems, Campaign Management Systems and Dealer Incentive Management systems; Work with other departments within the company to identify requirements and develop solutions (database design, workflows, user/data interfaces) ;Configure and/or customize BI and analytics systems to meet business requirements using various database and software tools; Assist in presentations of system functionality to new users and departments ;Enhance and create user and system documentation as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create test plans, test data sets and perform automated testing to ensure all components of the developed systems meet specifications;
  • Work directly with the IT support personnel and teams to resolve issues identified and escalated during daily operations;
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents;
  • Formalize test plans and implement troubleshooting procedures;
  • Upgrading products and applying patches as necessary;
  • Maintaining and modifying reports/queries on an as-needed basis;
  • Managing and supporting the security implementation;
  • Troubleshooting database connectivity issues;
  • Maintaining, coordinating back up and restoring the ETL and Reports repositories  and other Systems binaries and source codes;
  • Conduct business user requirements analysis and specification;
  • Specify computer system requirements for the solution of complex business problems and formulates designs for their solutions;
  • Perform the necessary technical design and development functionality to ensure that business application systems can be effectively developed and implemented;
  • Design and development of front-end tier(s), middle tier(s), and /or back-end database tier(s) for business applications. Capturing of business applications information needs and mapping of the same to the software and /or database components;
  • Performs data modelling to analyse and specify data structures within an application system;
  • Coding of all ETL and analytics processes used within the BI systems;
  • Perform the necessary technical design and development functionality to ensure that reporting needs can be effectively developed and implemented;
  • Research and provide input on design approach, performance and base functionality improvements for various procedures and applications;
Role requirements;
  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or technical related field;
  • Oracle Certified Developer;
  • Certification in RDBMS;
  • 3 years development experience with development tools e.g. Java ;
  • 3 years development experience with low level programming C++, C.;
  • 3 years’ experience RDMS preferably Oracle, MS SQL Server;
  • 3 years’ experience in data warehousing, business analysis, knowledge in Business Systems modeling and data retrieval;
  • 4GL for programming - Visual Basic/Oracle Application builder;
  • SAS/SPSS Data Mining experience will be an added advantage;
  • Systems Analysis and Solutions Architecting;
  • Programming and Systems Development;
  • SQL & Oracle database management ;
  • Data Quality & Cleansing experience;
  • Advanced Unix scripting and user skills;
  • Experience in processes and procedures management;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills and attention to details.

Reporting to the Head of Department-IS Operations, the position holder will manage the MPESA technical 1st line and 2nd Line support; team lead, co-ordination and collaboration with both internal and external MPESA operation support teams; Manage Resources both Human and material in provision of support to the MPESA systems, processes and functions; Interface with 3rd line support, partners and Vendor deliverables, contracts and licenses for all the MPESA system components within Safaricom and will be accountable for the performance and availability of the MPESA system.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, resource and deliver appropriate, proactive MPESA IT support, including skill analysis and training requirements, software and hardware resourcing;
  • Mentoring, motivation and training of the relevant teams;
  • Conflict resolution and ensuring good organizational climate;
  • Ensure MPESA process and policy documents are functional and up to date;
  • Manage the technical functions of the Safaricom Financial services eco-systems
  • Ensure that all MPESA System Software, MPESA applications, infrastructure servers, storage, operating systems, Backups and related applications are designed, implemented and managed to meet the business’ requirements;
  • Manage and lead a team of managers within MPESA technical support;
  •  Define performance indicators, assign tasks, and define goals and objectives for the staff develop the skill base of the staff assigned, motivate, discipline and recommend reward of staff;
  • Development and analysis of relevant management KPI reports on all aspects of MPESA system;
  • Provide input to IS Operations departmental budget.
Role requirements;
  • Msc ISM or MBA is preferred;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT/Computer science or related field;
  • UNIX, Microsoft, ITIL v3 certification and project management Certification;
  • Oracle Certification especially database and applications;
  • 4 years’ experience in IT Senior Management;
  • 8 years’ experience in IT Administration working in a busy Telco or Bank;
  • Business analysis skills ( Advanced level);
  • Proven team leadership in a multinational IT environment preferably a telco or bank;
  • Hands on skills in Networks/RDBMS/Unix/Windows servers/Programing applications;
  • Excellent analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills along with meeting facilitation skills;
  • Logical and physical data modeling, relational databases;
  • Expertise in enterprise applications architecture;
  • Communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Problem solving skills;
  • Decision making skills.
