Job Purpose
To provide actuarial analysis to CIC General Insurance Limited to ensure the company is always aware of its financial liability position, risks and market dynamics.
Duties & Responsibility
  1. Reserving; build models to support valuations by product and by class and review adequacy of case reserves.
  2. Financial Planning; creation of business plans and projections in line with the intended plans.
  3. Reinsurance; provide analysis of experience in line with current arrangements and to support the renegotiation of the existing contracts.
  4. Reporting; provide comprehensive actuarial reports to the business each quarter and highlight key issues on an ongoing basis including solvency and capital monitoring.
  5. Risk analysis; address all areas raise by the IRA in their risk inspection and continue to highlight emerging risks.
  6. Product review; monitor experience on all products.



Skills &Academic qualifications
BSc. Actuarial Science.
MSc. Actuarial would be an added advantage.
Professional qualifications
At least 10 Professional Actuarial Exams.
CA1 and at least one ST required.


Relevant work experience
At least 2 Years working experience in the insurance industry.



Skills, Knowledge and competencies
  • Excellent in statistical analysis.
  • Problem solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Knowledge in statistical packages

Job Purpose
Based in Nairobi the job holder will have extensive knowledge of the Air Cargo Industry, manage key stake holder relationships with freight forwarders and where appropriate shippers. The maintenance of key relationships with government contacts and functions is a pre requisite ensuring Emirates maintain standards and procedures in line with Country / s regulatory programme. The maintenance of EK standard’s and adherence to policy and security regulations is a must.

The role holder is responsible for generating commitment, team cohesiveness & setting a clear vision for Sky Cargo in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania.



Job Accountabilities
  • To develop the market share and maintain EK leadership position in the industry across the four designated Countries. Lead by example in setting out customer focussed service standards and maintaining high quality focus on standards and procedures in line with company guidelines.
  • Manage the administration (Full Data Capture) and implementation of cargo warehouse processes and procedures and together with the appointed contractor(s) to ensure that customer service and cargo quality standards are attained within the agreed cost parameters to ensure maximum value attained from those selected service providers.
  • Develop Emirates Cargo Product to ensure maximum uplifts of cargo in order to achieve station revenue targets.
  • Continuously monitor market trends, compile cargo related statistical information and provide feedback/recommend sales policies to Head Office using key relationship with Regional Manager.
  • Recommend, implement and effectively lead local market pricing within the parameters of authority from the Cargo headquarters, in order to achieve and contribute towards route and point of sale objectives. Be prepared with good market information in order to optimise yield with dynamic and tactical pricing methodology.
  • Promote Consignee, P O Mail and Courier sales to generate import cargo and develop other value added products for implementation (e.g. door to door, express, courier, etc.) in order to effectively enhance cargo revenues.
  • Plan, and manage cargo team effectively across the four Countries ensuring optimal use of all resources available, plan for peak trading times accordingly.
  • Plan and follow operating procedures for all cargo leaving the territory in accordance with Global Operations procedures in order to facilitate smooth handling through the Dubai hub.
  • Manage cargo employees in compliance with corporate/local regulations, policies and procedures to ensure the maintenance of a disciplined, motivated work force with effective utilisation of human and material resources to pro-actively achieve cargo related goals.
  • Manage the implementation of fiscal policies, procedures and accounting practices ensuring the timely collection of revenue, settlement of payables, and control of credit to maximise profitability’s from cargo operations.
  • Direct the interface management and activities of the cargo warehouse operations for import, export and transfer cargo to achieve optimum product quality and service standard for Emirates cargo products contributing to distribution processing efficiencies and revenues derived from cargo handling and value-added services.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Educated up to desired and appropriate levels.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Air Cargo Industry of which minimum of five years should be at a senior level.
  • Experience in Cargo Sales and handling of operations of airlines as well as freight forwarding awareness or direct experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing agent / customer relationships.
  • Practical knowledge of Cargo affairs of an international nature.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) at all levels.
  • Proven ability of leading, & developing staff at a senior level.
  • Initiative and commitment to ensure that EK's Cargo matters in all four Countries are handled efficiently and revenue targets achieved.
  • An appreciation of the concept of customer service for internal as well as external customers.
  • Excellent planning and organisation ability.

Qualifications & Experience
