Explore internships at Save the Children

Save the Children offers a number of unpaid internship positions in our Westport, CT and Washington DC offices as well as in some of our U.S. Field Offices. Internships are offered throughout the spring, summer and fall semesters. Interns will have the opportunity to work under the direct supervision of an experienced Save the Children staff member, within a specific department, to expand their knowledge of the humanitarian aid, non-profit industry, while at the same time develop skills and experience in their chosen field or career. Their work is focused on advancing important projects such as: program and policy research, internet and social media projects, communications and campaigns, and fundraising.
We require that interns work a minimum of 15 to 20 hours per week with a maximum of 38 hours per week. Internships are unpaid and we do not offer housing arrangements.

Eligibility

  1. Candidates must be an actively enrolled undergraduate or graduate student.
  2. Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  3. Candidates must be able to receive credit from their college or institution. A minimum requirement is a letter from a professor supporting the candidate. This is only needed when an internship is offered.

Context/Scope:
Serengeti Breweries Ltd (SBL) operates exclusively in Tanzania and is the 2nd largest beer company with a market share of close to 30%. SBL is a subsidiary of East Africa Breweries Ltd (EABL) – which is partly owned by one of the world’s biggest alcoholic beverage companies, DIAGEO. The company is an integrated demand/supply business with 3 operational breweries in Dar Es Salaam, Mwanza, and Moshi. The company boasts famous locally brewed brands, such as Serengeti Premium Lager, Tusker Lager, Tusker Light, Kibo Gold, Pilsner Lager, Senator just to name a few. The spirits folder is filled with world-class brands from abroad – including Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Baileys, J&B and Gordon’s.
Purpose of Role:
Develop and implement account plans in accordance to the trade marketing & distribution strategy.
• Ensure that key objectives for key account are met.
• Ensure the effective and efficient utilization of Off trade Representatives
Top Accountabilities:
Build and maintain the regional Goodtime database
• Develop and implement a trade coverage plan for Goodtime outlets.
• Define customer trading terms (e.g. bonus, credit, discounts) for Goodtime outlets in the commercial planning, following guidelines from Spirits Market Mgr & Regional Mgr
• Ensure that objectives in terms of availability, visibility, volume, margin, quality (e.g. RQI) and customer price of products are achieved for the Goodtime channel
• Customise trade programmes for Goodtime’s reality
• Increase levels of Goodtime trade support and loyalty by enhancing understanding of the Goodtime trading environment and establishing close working relations with the Goodtime trade
• Coordinate implementation of brand and trade programmes in the Goodtime channel in the area, quickly reacting against competitive threats if necessary


Qualifications and Experience Required:
Experience
• Ideally, not less than three years' experience in premium beverage or a similar FMCG category
• Bachelor degree in a commercial/business field
